The Plainfield Fire Protection District was founded in 1935 and our first official meeting was held on July 5, 1935 at the Plainfield Village Hall. Since our founding the fire district has grown with the community we serve. Today we have 4 fire stations, a vehicle maintenance shop and an administration and training facility. The Plainfield Fire Protection District employs over 130 full-time, part-time and contract firefighter/paramedics as well as administrative and support personnel.
Our mission statement is: The Plainfield Fire Protection District is dedicated to preserving the quality of life by saving lives and protecting property through efficient emergency response and prevention. We strive to be prepared for a variety of emergencies that can arise through training and preparation. In 2013 we responded to 4,173 calls.
Deputy Chief Jon Stratton joined the fire district in 1995. He currently serves as the Operations Chief and oversees fire suppression, firefighter training and technical rescue teams including the Dive Team and the Hazardous Materials Team. Deputy Chief Stratton is also in charge of fire investigations and is the handler of K-9 arson investigator Blaze. He is also active with intergovernmental police and fire agencies including MABAS, the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System. ###
