The Chicago Metro Chapter of the American Public Works Association selected Plainfield’s Director of Public Works, Allen Persons, as the recipient of the Top Ten Public Works Leader of the Year Award. Mr. Persons was recognized for this achievement at the Chapter’s Awards Luncheon on March 24^th.

Congratulations go to Susan Gutierrez, Independent Chocolatier with Dove Chocolate Discoveries as she was recognized for exceeding her sales target in the first 30 days of business. She was also recognized for recruiting 1 team member to her team. Most of the activity that Susan generated and was able to turn into business was a result of many of the Chamber events, network nights, referral group participation & working with businesses throughout Plainfield as well as the Business Expo.

 

Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center has been named a Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery® and a Blue Distinction Center for Hip and Knee Replacements® for demonstrating better overall quality of care patient results in spine surgery and hip and knee replacement procedures.

Rezin Orthopedics and Sports Medicine are pleased to announce its 9^th annual call for scholarship applicants. Two $1,000 scholarships will be given to individuals living in the counties of Grundy, Kendall, LaSalle, Livingston and Will who will be graduating in the spring of 2011 from high school or who is currently enrolled in a university or community college. Eligible applicants must be enrolling in or be enrolled in the field of medicine which includes, but is not limited to, pre-med, physical therapy, occupational therapy, sports medicine, athletic training, medical technician or nursing. Applications are available at www.rezinortho.com.

 

Cliff Lauderdale and Dave Eichholzer are 2 volunteers that make a difference here at Joliet Area Community Hospice. This retiree and fireman have some very strong common bonds, both are veterans and both are volunteers in our Pride, Honor and Dignity Veteran’s Program. National Volunteer Week was April 10^th thru 16^th. Congratulations gentlemen!

 

Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center hosted a Medicare Information Seminar on April 13^th. LuAnn Stepina, Senior Health Insurance Program, Certified Medicare Counselor discussed Medicare Parts A, B, C and D, also known as Medicare Prescription Drug coverage.

 

On Thursday, March 24^th, the Village’s Wastewater Plant Expansion Project was honored by the Chicago Metro Chapter of the American Public Works Association as the “Project of the Year” in the Environmental Project category, $5-$25 million range.
