October 2011 WYSK Update

Date:
Oct 1 2011
First of all, thanks to all the WYSK members who took the time to complete the survey that was distributed at our August luncheon or completed the survey on line. We had a total of 56 respondents and here is what they had to say.

The overwhelming reason that ladies attend WYSK events is for business networking, although some appreciate the social aspect as well. Fifty six people (everyone) selected business networking as a reason they attend.

The favored time slot for WYSK activities was lunchtime, 11:30am – 1pm, with 42 votes with the second choice being 8-10 am with 11 votes. Other choices each received under 10 votes.

In regard to our activities, the progressive luncheon ranked number one, with luncheons with a speaker coming in at number two. Feelings about mini-golf, the vendor event and the holiday party came in well below the luncheons, very close to each other in the amount of votes they received.

The votes were as follows:    Progressive Luncheon – 67
                                               Luncheon with Speaker – 74
                                               Vendor Show – 92
                                               Holiday Party – 93
                                               Mini-golf – 96

Note- The lower the number of votes means the more popular that event was, as the instructions were to put 1 by your favorite event and 5 by your least favorite. There were two ladies that did not want to see the golf outing done again and many who checked all the events or left blank spaces, so those responses were a little difficult to interpret, but it does seem that the numbers above give us a pretty clear idea of preferences.

Some events mentioned that folks would like to see were:

Self-improvement speakers, a women’s health fair, a wine & cheese event, perhaps at Wine Styles, a getting to know you system where we would showcase several businesses at each event, a fashion show featuring items offered by our members, multi-Chamber women’s event, sessions where people really get to know your business through Q and A time, elected officials (preferably women) sharing info and experiences, an after hours event and a spring vendor show for Mothers’ Day.

Although the responses were worded differently, the primary reasons that people did not attend WYSK events, were scheduling conflicts with work or family. A few said it interfered with their client time and a few said they had not attended because they were not previously members. All in all, it seemed like they would have if they could have.

Your WYSK board will be using this info to plan 2012 activities, so thanks again for your input.
