Plainfield Patch – plainfield.patch.com – is an online newspaper dedicated to reporting everything that’s happening in the village. Other than the fact that you won’t find us lying in your driveway, we are a traditional paper in every other way: we cover news, sports, business, features, even obituaries.
In newspaper jargon, we’re called a “hyper-local” paper. That means, we think people want content that just about the town in which they live and no such thing as news being too small not to have a home somewhere on our site. It also means you won’t find news about Joliet, Naperville or Shorewood (in fact, the latter two towns have Patches of their own). It’s all Plainfield, all of the time.
The best thing about an online newspaper is we can post stories as soon as they happen. There’s no waiting for deadlines or printing press schedules. If there’s a breaking news story, we can send e-mail it immediately to readers who subscribe to our morning and weekly newsletters. We also take full advantage of Twitter and Facebook to get the word out about Plainfield news.
If you have something you want to get published, feel free to post it yourself as an announcement or an event (that way you control how it appears) or send the information to Editor Karen Sorensen at
