“Members In The Spotlight”
Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center introduces Specialized Care for Hospitalized Older Adults with the opening of an Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE0 unit. St. Joe’s is leading the way in transforming care for the elderly. Research shows that about 25% of elderly patients who are hospitalized for a common acute illness, never return to the living situation they had been in prior to entering the hospital, because their total needs went unmet during their stay. Presence Saint Joseph in Joliet’s goal is to change that – by bringing leading-edge care for seniors to the area. The new ACE Unit is a model of care specifically designed to address the needs of hospitalized adults, age 65 and older. The unit provides “Specialty Care for Seniors” in an environment that encourages activity and independence. A comfortable hospital stay, quick return to health and home, and detailed attention to the patient’s needs are the goals of every member of the inter-professional team working on the unit.
Since opening their doors in 2005, Plainfield Culver’s has been committed to being an active member in its community. Many Chicagoland Culver’s locations participated in the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s annual Shamrock program and encouraged guests to purchase a shamrock for $1 during four weeks of the program in support of children and adults affected by muscle disease. 24 Culver’s locations in Northern Illinois have supported the fight against muscle disease. The program has raised over $9,000 during this year’s campaign with Culver’s Restaurant donations in Northern Illinois. Plainfield Culver’s has contributed $2,600 for the 2014 campaign which is the highest donation within the Chicagoland region for Culver’s Restaurants. Congratulations for all your hard work!
