Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center held a Senior Health Fair on October 8th. With Free Screenings, which included balance, foot, memory, strength and more. Dr. Mark Kantar, geriatrician discussed issues facing older adults and their changing medical needs.
The Village of Plainfield is pleased to announce that the Illinois Chapter of the American Planning Association has chosen A Vision for Division as this year’s Community Outreach Award winner. The Community Outreach Award recognizes a project that emphasizes the importance of community involvement in making great places.
Senior Star at Weber Place hosted an Oktoberfest celebration that helped support the Alzheimer’s Association and Toys for Tots. The day’s activities included German beer, snacks and the music of Frank Rossi. Highlights included a silent auction and raffle for two Chicago Bears tickets. All proceeds go to the Alzheimer’s Association for which Senor Star has raised more than $10,000.00. Also attendees were asked to bring a toy or cash donation for their holiday philanthropic program for Toys for Tots.
Heritage Meadows Village Center was acquired by new ownership in July 2013. Since then, much has changed at the center’s 119th and Route 59 location. Added to the well-constructed and well situated center is new blacktop, modern security systems, brilliant window wraps, and two new tenants: Versed Salon and Ewa’s Market and Deli. Coupled with the centers existing anchors – DuPage Medical Group, Firestone, and Shell Gasoline – these additions make Heritage Meadows a shopping destination or the Plainfield-Naperville area.
Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center hosted breast health experts on October 15th atForget You Not, a special program to remind women to take care of themselves while remembering those who have lost their battle with breast cancer and those who are still fighting. The program is part of the Medical Center’s monthly Red Hot Mamas series at the Presence Healing Arts Pavilion in New Lenox. Speakers included nationally renowned surgeon and breast specialist, Wendy Marshall, M.D., diagnostic radiologist, Michkey Jester, D.O., and hematologist/oncologist, Ellen Gustafson, M.D., who discussed the latest advances in breast cancer diagnosis, technological improvements in detection as well as treatment and recovery.
